It provides educational opportunities for people of all ages - primary, secondary, tertiary, emerging and professional theatre practitioners, teachers, corporate sector and lovers of Shakespeare.

NEWS SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festivals go e-wise!
Thanks to the generous support of the University of Otago you can now register your school's scenes for this year's Festivals online!!
You can also download registration forms for the associated competitions.
Visit http://shakespeare.otago.ac.nz and then use the menu to do the following:
Introduction - contains the criteria and outline of the Festivals including the draft programme of the 2010 National Festival.
Also you can find here an overview of how the process of the Festivals and their subsquent opportunities works.
Shakespeare - clicking on this link takes you first to the Policies which must be read and accepted. Then you will be able to start the registration process for entering your Regional UOSWSF. Ensure that you click on Add Director/participant/crew button to include all your actors, other performers, crew, extra student directors to complete the registration process.
Your school must be a current financial member of SGCNZ in order to participate in the Festival. To become a member click here to download the membership PDF.
Modify - here you can edit your entry to UOSWSF. Please retain the access key number and your password from your registration, without this you will not be able to access this area.

Stage Details for Wellington East Girls' College
Here are the specifications of the stage at Wellington East Girls' College where the Wellington Regional and National Festivals are held.

Almost flat stage - which makes visibility of people sitting or lying at floor level difficult. 3 revolving panels creating wings each side of the stage, hessian on one side, wood on the other.
Curtain pulled from OP corner.
Access to the stage from auditorium is via 1 set of steps on OP side and through barn door P side.
Upright piano available.
Lighting - basic rig.
Sound - four speaker system with cassette and CD option operated from the sound room off OP side. Limited stage view from operating area.
Power outlets along front of stage.
School desks and chairs and a limited number of rostra are the only set/props available on request.
Limited space backstage means that we cannot accommodate large set items.
OP side exit to backstage.
